Lol! The next game will be fun And hey, the Vlad the Impaler strategy might just be the way to go. STAKE HIM! Of course, if your Morality was above 8 I would require a Morality check, or even an automatic loss. But that doesn't mean you're a bad person. You're just willing what needs to be done to burn down the old society and erect a new, better, one. It is an oddity that most people are good and want to just get along - but in an anarchic situation, many "good" people end up becoming really, really bad. I love those stories though - the balance between good and evil, right and wrong, etc., etc. Oh - and well done on not getting shot, or hunted down (yet) vonpenguin! I thought you were toast back there Would it be more than one point... that is a horrific act. Death is one thing... but you are chopping off a head, then ... placing it on a post for all to view. How will others view this woman?

On that note, if it turns out Felicia is dead would Alex need a morality roll to stake Bryce's head out in front of Ship? wait?... you're willing to kill him, then walk or run and post in front of the ship. Because would all the ship personal view you as a threat to society?. Don't they view bryce as a "good kid" ( not all know about his crimes of flesh ) and you "hurt"... a innocent person. Wait... it's the APOC, fuck it. Stake him in view for all to see. *smirks

Nah, it would probably just be "Men, open fire, double rations for whoever gets the kill shot."

Okay, so a bit over a week ago we finished the final game for a little while (so I can go hibernate in my work and get the book done!).
Here's how the last two sessions went in a nutshell.
Alex managed to evade the dodgy guide by pegging her flashlight at him, then running. He shot at her, but missed (close one!), and the others from the truck chased her to the edge of the field, then fired after her, but again the bullets just whipped around her. Then, laughing and thoroughly enjoying themselves, they piled out and chased after her. It was a serious game of cat and mouse that finally led Alex down a slope and into a house - while Infected starting shrieking from nearby. Lo and behold, a Bungled roll later and Alex kicked open the kitchen door...right onto an Infected. Uh oh. Lucky for her, her armour protected her from its scrabbling claws, and as she back peddled it tripped on the old carpet - and she buried her knife up to the hilt in its skull.
Then the front door kicked open, and Bryce appeared, grinning like the monster he is. Alex lunged at him immediately, taking him by surprise with her speed (and her knife covered in infected juices), but he just managed to lunge back out of the way. Alex then ran back into the house as Bryce's men fired at her (again, luckily, missing). She managed to crawl out a side window without being noticed, as by now there were more Infected screaming, and then she fled back towards the town (which was, admittedly, a long way away).
On the way she had a close encounter with a pack of Infected - one of them dressed in a wrecked suit and tie, and apparently directing the others... which gave her pause as she contemplated just what that meant... And then, just as she was racing down the final steep slope towards the settlement, she heard the shrieks from behind her, and the pack emerged, running full-pelt after her.
It was probably fortunate that they arrived then, because Bryce's truck had positioned itself between her and Ship, and they were already firing at her... but with so many Infected breaking the tree line, they decided that wasn't such a great idea, and legged it.
The settlement was taken by surprise. There hadn't been an Infected attack for months, and a large group of people got jammed up outside Hotel. The Infected charged into them with gusto, veering away from ship. Screams filled the air. But still, several of them surged after Alex.
There were shooters up on Ship now punishing those Infected, and Richard was one of those... except that his first shot hit an "Infected" who was in fact a running woman...oops...
Alex herself scooped up a child who was in the way, then got underneath the shanty town in front of Ship, and though several Infected pursued her (including the one with the tie), Richard's sniper fire slowly took them out (though they noted there was no body for the one with the tie...dun dun dun...).
Eventually the Infected retreated, leaving dozens of bodies, and dragging a number of people away with them. A number of survivors were left wounded and Infected, and it's here where Richard got to work, promising them a comfortable end and the best medical attention they can get - for everything they've got. Some of them agreed. Others had nothing to give.
And then the game of wits continued. Bryce approached Richard and said that he was fine with Richard pimping out of Ship, but that he needed to pay 50% of the proceeds to Bryce. Richard reluctantly agreed, but at the same time spiked Bryce's drink with a brutal drug (which causes death ultimately, after much discomfort - though there is a cure). Bryce started to feel poorly, and Richard pushed him to get in new drugs. Then Richard went to see the doctor, who was still locked in the brig. Needless to say, it didn't go so well, with the Doc threatening bloody vengeance on Richard for what he'd done...and Richard promptly turned to Bryce and said, "he has drugs but he's holding out on us... I need them to help you." A whole lot of beating later, the doc finally admitted that he has a "few drugs" but that they're not helpful. Though he did say where they could be gotten - the local settlement of College (built out of an old College of all things).
Bryce immediately tasked Richard with getting the drugs from there.
Meanwhile, with Bryce in such a bad temper, it wasn't long before he unleashed his pent-up fury on a hapless resident of the Shanty Town, beating him senseless and drawing his gun to execute the poor bastard. Except that he got interrupted by one very intrepid Alex, who simply told him to go home before she made an example of him. Ironically, when he laughed and then threatened to shoot her, she spun on her heel and swept his legs out, dropping him on his head and...knocking him out! But his cronies were there, and they took a dim view of that, grabbing Alex and dragging her into the brig - where Frankie proceeded to beat her senseless. Ouch. Worse was yet to come, as he came back repeatedly over the subsequent days to beat her down some more, until her face was looking like a pinada.
Even worse, that very evening the Shanty Town was burnt to the ground. Many in Ship said it had been an accident from an open fire - but others whispered that they had seen Bryce's men splashing petrol onto the buildings...and even lighting them! Richard saw several people who seemed to have been tied to poles in the middle of the inferno, though their bonds burnt through and next morning there was no evidence they had been restrained - they were just twisted black corpses in the mess.
Bryce glared at everyone in paranoia, and slept with a gun under his blanket. He was talking of murdering even his father, and anyone else who could be responsible for poisoning him.
Things were getting desperate.
Richard headed out with a delegation to College, and arranged for the drugs they needed. However, at the same time he managed to get in a quiet word with one of them that they would "really appreciate some help with a problem they've got." And College agreed to send around "a package of about 20" in a couple of days. Richard was to let them in to sort out said problem.
So when they got back, with Bryce starting to go quite psychotic, Richard administered part of the cure to him, then started cleaning up a nearby train, and getting a number of key people onto it. He also kept Frankie drugged up as much as he could, so he couldn't keep on beating up Alex, who persisted in defying him, locked in her cell.
Good to their word, late one night the group from College arrived with their "package," and Richard ensured they were received openly. That small group then seized control of Ship's entranceway, just in time for a second group of twenty men to assault the Ship properly. The firefight was short, quick and deadly. Within ten minutes Ship was secure. Frankie was shot dead, another goon was bleeding badly, and Bryce got shot and leapt into the river.
It was over.
To be continued, no doubt!

If we didn't find a body he's still alive, fiction 101 man. He still has his bandit buddies out there somewhere.
