Diary of a survivor……. Day 23 (since my awakening)
I was happy, I had all I needed. all I ever wanted.... until this!
Now it seems lost to me, I woke up this morning with my family, ready for the fitful day of travel to Plymouth.
Winning the lottery was supposed to be a good thing. We would be safe.
I am sat in a truck, on our way to safety, I hope. Ciaran is cuddled up to me tired and scared, Brook is moody and annoyed at having to move away, Kevin is trying to talk to her about it, but he seems as scared as I am. I have to stop writing this drive is getting worse, so many people want to get on.
We have stopped and are picking up more people…. It’s the London family and the Hardware family, I am glad they made it into the lottery too…. No one is talking now.
We were all injected with a tracer, or ID chip. This is so that only we can get onto the boat when we reach Plymouth……..
I am writing this now in the barracks of Fort Austin, it is the evening, and what a strange horrible day I have had, I want to cry, but no tears are forthcoming.
I lost my family this afternoon, the got onto the boat, but I got caught in the Frey of fighting, and then a horde of infected rampaged through the docs killing everyone….. It was a slaughter, Gary told me to run, so I did, we got into a truck and drove as far and as fast as we could away from the Infected.
I couldn’t believe it when we finally stopped, all that kept me going was knowing that Ciaran Brook and Kev were safe on the Boat.
Fort Austin.
They took us in after we proved we were lottery winners, that chip did come in handy after all.
We offered our help when they said they were missing 4 men, on a supplies run. Anything not to sit around waiting for something to happen.
I think I may need training in firearms, I can’t shoot for toffee, I found that out after trying to shot at an infected shop keeper, and missing at every click!!!
We found the men, 2 dead, but 2 alive! Badly wounded, but alive. Helping them to the truck they came in, I was almost jumped on by a random!
Shaking a little I told him to back away, several times, it wasn’t until Gary came out that he actually listened to me. And ran off.
I am now shaking with all the adrenaline pumping through me, I can’t sleep, so I thought I would write down my day and maybe soon I’ll look back on this and it will have all been a terrible nightmare over!...
I miss you all so much…. And I will find you again.
Diary of a survivor……. Day 24 (since awakening)
I awoke this morning after a fitful sleep, screams I have never heard before, worrying about my family, dreading what I have to do in the days to come.
Sgt Austin, tells us to attend a briefing…. I’m off there now. I hope they have a way of reaching the boat. My phone has not been able to connect to Kev’s. I am worried.
